You have the power to transform a young person's future

The Talent Tap connects business professionals like you with ambitious young people from coastal and rural communities across the UK.

You bring your time, your experience and your knowledge of the world of work. They bring drive, curiosity and ambition.

Together, you help remove the barriers that stand between talent and opportunity, no matter where someone grew up.

There’s no single way to get involved. Whether you’ve got an hour to spare for a mock interview or you want to run a skills workshop for a room full of students, your time makes a real difference.

“This experience was a powerful reminder that talent is everywhere, but access isn’t. Volunteering gave me real insight into the barriers some young people face and just how impactful practical, human support can be in helping them navigate early career decisions with confidence.”

— Jen Smith, Director of People & Operations, Eulogy

  • Use your own skills and experience to inspire others

  • Volunteer your time wisely and see tangible results

  • Build your communication and interview skills

  • Increase your own motivation and confidence

  • Learn new perspectives from a generation entering the world of work

  • Understand, first-hand, the barriers young people face in accessing professional careers

“It’s not just about giving back, it’s about growing together.”
— Geoff Rayner, Director, Ortus Partners

Ways to volunteer

Support our young people

Our young people are dedicated, intelligent and ready to make the most of the opportunities they’re given. They just need the access. Here’s how you can help, whether in person or remotely.

Mock interview 1-1 with a young person interested in your field. Give them a first taste of a real interview, plus feedback to help them improve.

CV review Give a handful of young people 1-1 feedback on their CV.

Mock assessment centre Set a challenge for a small group of young people, alongside other volunteers, and give feedback on the results.

Skills workshop Deliver a session on public speaking, networking, interview skills or another skill young people need as they start their careers.

“They were dedicated and intelligent, and simply needed some support in getting access to opportunities that are sometimes simply handed to others.”

— Laura Scott, Legal Director, Hill Dickinson LLP

Ways to volunteer

Behind the scenes

Not all of our volunteers work directly with young people. We also need people who can lend their skills to how we run and grow as a charity.

  • Communications support: help with social media content, graphic design or updating our website
  • Fundraising: take part in a challenge event, help run a campaign, or support our fundraising team

If this sounds like you, get in touch and tell us what you’re good at.

“From volunteering at The Talent Tap, I’ve learned from people from different ways of life, been able to share my skills, and feel a greater feeling of purpose.”

— Ross, FTI Consulting

“The Talent Tap organised and handled everything smoothly.
The students were incredibly well supported and only had positive feedback to say.”

— Omar Alami, Consultant, FTI Consulting
