Welcome to The Talent Tap, a charity dedicated to tapping into the potential of individuals aged between 18-25 years old from disadvantaged backgrounds. In this blog post, we will be introducing our mission, and the transformative work we are doing to empower lives through work experience.
At The Talent Tap, we believe that levelling up social mobility has the power to change lives, and unlock opportunities for individuals to reach their full potential. Unfortunately, many individuals from underprivileged communities face barriers that limit their access to quality experience and personal growth.
Our Mission:
The Talent Tap was founded with a mission to deliver long-term social impact by giving life-changing, career enhancing opportunities to those from social mobility coldspots across the UK. The Talent Tap strengthens employment potential by enabling access to the professional industry, empowering our students to stride beyond the barriers of socio-economics.
How We Work:
We partner with schools, to identify individuals who demonstrate a passion for learning and developing themselves. We believe that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not, and so our goal is to ensure that it is not overlooked due to circumstances beyond an individual’s control.
We provide students with a wide range of support, including mentoring, career guidance, skill development workshops, and a 2-week fully funded residential program.
Programs and Initiatives:
The Talent Tap offers a variety of programs designed to cater to the diverse needs and aspirations of our students.
1. Charity Partnerships: The Talent Tap have established some strong partnerships with some brilliant organisations that recognise the importance of diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity. Through these partnerships, we have been able to ensure our students gain hands-on experience in industries ranging from finance, to event management.
2. Social Mobility Efforts: We believe in the importance of levelling up. Our Youth Symposium events supports just this, by bringing together young people from under privileged communities and professionals to discuss strategies and solutions to achieve greater inclusion in the workplace and to fuel social mobility.
3. Financial Support: We provide financial support to our students who demonstrate a commitment to their education and career but lack the means to pursue it. By removing financial barriers, we ensure that our students have access to valuable work experience to add to their CV, along with bursaries to travel to open days.
4. Mentoring: Our mentoring program connects students with experienced professionals and role models, from a variety of sectors, who provide guidance, support, and encouragement. Our mentors help our students to navigate challenges, explore their career paths, and develop the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen field.
5. Zoominars: Our Zoominars cover a broad spectrum of career choices, to enable our students to have access to a wide variety of options to explore. From traditional professionals, such as law, to digital marketing, we cover a diverse range of career paths.
