Student from Lincoln Christ’s Hospital

From running an assay in a biotechnology lab one week to running a marketing project the next, I had my first experience of a working day and learned how to network with peers and businesspeople; budget and account for my expenditures; speak in public; live away from home; and navigate an unfamiliar city. I have taken away an enhanced CV, people who can give me advice, a new awareness of the jobs waiting for me after my degree, and friends for life. The people I met may well be channels to my future jobs.

To newcomers: talk to everyone you meet, even if it is simply to thank them. Do not let fear or shyness define what you will and won’t do – just do it!
